These are the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) prints that I had printed at WFRIC World’s Reactor 79. I am building the “bones” for Codename Colossus with it. You can see Jasper’s hand there helping me break the parts off the printing tray. The machine they have is a Stratasys Fortus 250mc, which is the entry level of the production grade 3D printers. Three major things set the prints apart from your hobbyist FDM printers. One is the soluble support material which is a dream to remove, another is dimension stability for large pieces. The last is production without having to monitor the printer. All these are a dream for fuss free production with FDM. The prints are significantly more expensive than a hobbyist machine, but the benefits outweigh the cost.
